"Tomorrow Now, the Look and Feel of the 21st Century," the next talk in SFI's 2001 public lecture series will be given by Bruce Sterling: author, journalist, editor, and critic from Austin, Texas. Sponsored by the Art & Science Laboratory and the Hotel Santa Fe, Sterling's talk will take place on the evening of July 18 at the James A. Little Theater at the New Mexico School for the Deaf.

"Music, Language, and Environment," a talk by composer David Dunn from the College of Santa Fe, will take place August 15th at the James A. Little Theater at the New Mexico School for the Deaf. Mr. Dunn will discuss aspects of his site-specific sound art and environmental soundscape recordings as they relate to his interest in increasing cultural sensitivity to aural perception and our understanding of non-human communication modalities. The lecture will also explore the impact that developments in bioacoustics and complexity science may have upon the evolution of music and biomusicology. The presentation will be "illustrated" by numerous audio examples. This talk is sponsored by the Art and Science Laboratory.
